AI Usage Statement
Last updated 20th June 2024
At Lab 1, we want to be known for our FACTS based culture:
- A Force for good
- Ambitious
- Customer focussed
- A brilliant Team
- Scientific in our approach.
As a Force for good we understand that using Artificial Intelligence (AI) will allow us to achieve our ambition, but also that AI is a powerful tool that we take responsibility and care to incorporate into our organisation. This statement will clarify our position on the role of AI within our FACTS based culture and the process of creating our product.
How we use AI in our products
We use a variety of AI tools and libraries to process and analyse the data in our application, as follows;
- OpenAI hosted models to support the curation and enhancement of company data collected from open public sources.
- LLaVA for auto summarisation of public breached data content in a file or email.
- Custom built machine learning models (trained on data gathered by our analyst team and automated collectors). These are hosted on Lab 1 infrastructure and include:
- An LLM finely tuned for NLI (Natural Language Inference)
- XgBoost model to classify exfiltrated data
- SVM models to classify company employees into business functions
Information Security, Data Privacy and Protection
Lab 1 prioritises the security and confidentiality of our clients’ Personal Identifiable Information (PII) above all else. Client data, confidential information, or trade secrets should never be submitted to any AI-based platforms or systems without explicit consent from the client. We strictly adhere to industry-leading data protection and privacy standards to safeguard our clients’ trust and information.
We use data sub-processors for a variety of purposes in running our business. These are transparently available via our website https://lab-1.com/sub-processors
We take Information Security very seriously, gaining an ISO 27001 Certification from the BSI - the highest grading available - in 2022. Our continued compliance is audited each year.
